Do you ever fill up your tub? Most homeowners usually won’t but some parents will fill up a bath for their toddlers and others might use it for some major cleaning project. The thing is, sometimes when you have something you hardly ever use, it might fail when you actually need it. Take your tub stopper for example.

This is what most tubs use to plug up the drain allowing the water to stay in the tub. It is usually a simple design with a plunger that is attached to a lever by a chain. If the plunger comes unhooked from that chain, your tub might not drain at all no matter what you do. To fix this issue, you need to fish the plunger out of the channel it resides in and reattach it to the chain. Usually, all you need to do is remove the faceplate that the lever sits in, and then you should be able to pull out the chain that used to be attached to the plunger.

With that removed, you can stick an unraveled metal wire hanger or something similar into the hole to fish out the plunger. After that, all you need to do is re-attach the chain and you should have a functioning tub once again.
