Most homes have several major appliances. They are often worth quite a bit of money but they are not always cared for by their owners.
Considering the amount of money you might have invested in your appliances, it does make sense to try to keep them running for as long as possible, wouldn’t you agree? Of course, if your appliances are getting way up in age, it might come out cheaper to upgrade them to an appliance that is energy smart, but still, even newer appliances could be ruined if they aren’t taken care of properly.
One of the most important things to do that is often neglected is to leave air flow around your appliances. Lack of air-flow can cause appliances to overheat or malfunction. You also need to make sure that filters are replaced or cleaned. The same thing could happen there, a clogged filter will increase the heat generated by your appliance, and even if it doesn’t outright break the appliance, it will definitely shorten its lifespan.
Be careful when moving appliances so that you don’t damage the electrical cord, since that could lead to serious problems, even pose a risk of electrocution.
