Finding mouse droppings on your countertops in the morning is unsettling. You have a mouse. Where has it been? What has it crawled on, or into? Where is it now? Mice can carry disease, eat your food, and can chew through wires. They are not something you can ignore, and don’t think they will just disappear on their own. One mouse can soon turn into an infestation. So what should you do?
Before you get a mouse in your home, make sure any cracks and holes in your home that lead to the outside are sealed up. Mice can fit through very small holes, as small as the size of a dime. Store your food in airtight containers, especially sugary ones. Keep your home clean, vacuuming food crumbs from the floor and under your couch cushions. Do not leave dirty dishes in your sink overnight. Mice like moisture, so fix any leaky pipes, and keep your home dry.
If you find evidence of the mouse, you need to catch it. You can find mousetraps and bait online or in stores. If you think you have an infestation, seek professional help from pest control.
