Keeping your home dust-free is an ongoing process. And while it is not a favorite chore of most people, lowering the dust count in your home does have health benefits. Dust can trigger allergies and asthma in humans and pets. Also, dusting just helps your furniture look prettier.

When dusting your house, work from top to bottom. Dust doorframes, ceiling fans, picture frames, and light fixtures. Then dust your furniture and then baseboards. Vacuum thoroughly the floors and under furniture, and don’t forget to vacuum upholstery. You may want to do some of these things weekly and others monthly, depending on how much dust is created in your home. Keep your home clutter-free. It is easier (and more fun) to clean when there are fewer items to move around.

Choose good dusting tools. A lot of people like using microfibers because they grab dust instead of just pushing it around. There are microfiber dusters and cloths. These can be easily washed as well. Keep your vacuum clean, replacing or cleaning any filters regularly. Air purifiers can also help reduce dust and contaminants in your home.
